BTS and Blackpink were the only Korean artists to create Rolling Stones’ “50 Best Songs of 2020” list.
On December 7th, local time, the American pop culture magazine published its annual picks for the 50 best songs of the year selected by K-pop idols BTS and Blackpink.
BLACKPINK landed at number 13 with “Ice Cream”, her summer collaboration with Selena Gomez, which was also included in her eight-track “THE ALBUM”. Rolling Stone mentions Ariana Grande’s co-writing credit, describing it as a “power move on American radio waves” from “the queens of the Korean girl group”.
BTS’s “Dynamite” was listed at # 7, their first all-English single released in August and also featured on their latest album, BE. Rolling Stone mentions how “Dynamite” made history by giving BTS its first number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (also a premiere for an all-Korean act) and describes the single as “unmistakably the sound of BTS doing the Geist opens up of Eighties Disco ”and highlights Jungkook’s opening lines (in which he names the words“ Rolling Stone ”).
BTS also before made Rolling Stones list of “50 Best Albums of 2020” with “Map of the Soul: 7”.
