A woman who has filed a lawsuit for damages against the actor Jo jae hyun lost in the first hearing on the case.
The woman (hereinafter referred to as “A”) had said that she was sexually assaulted by Jo Jae Hyun in 2004 when she was 17 years old. She filed a lawsuit for damages of 300 million won (approximately $ 274,600) against the actor in July 2018. In September of this year, the court ruled on mandatory mediation, stating that the statute of limitations of the case had already expired. A filed an objection and so began the formal process.
During the trial, A’s side stated that they filed the lawsuit to publicize their suffering. Jo Jae Hyun’s side denied the allegations, saying that the statute of limitations on the case had expired.
Pursuant to Article 766 (1) of the Korean Civil Code, the right to compensation for an illegal act expires within three years from the date on which the injured party or their legal representative becomes aware of such damage and the identity of the person who caused it.
After the initial accusations Jo Jae Hyun posted sexual harassment in February 2018 Sorry, resigned from the professorship at Kyungsung University and withdrew from the drama “Cross”. Another sexual assault accusations came out about the actor he’s got refused.
