Park Shin Hye‘s “Sisyphus: The Myth” Character Holds Hope While Listening the BTS song, “spring day”!
JTBC’s upcoming 10th anniversary special drama “Sisyphus: The Myth” is a fantasy mystery drama with the lead role Cho seung woo as Han Tae Sool, a brilliant engineer who embarks on a perilous journey to unearth hidden beings who secretly live in our world; and Park Shin Hye as his savior Kang Seo Hae, who has come a long and dangerous journey for left him.
Kang Seo Hae is a heroic soldier who comes from a bleak future that has fallen into ruin. She grew up in intense training to survive. Previous teasers have featured her as an unbeatable warrior, but a new teaser shared on Jan. 29 gives a look at another side of her.
The video shows Kang Seo Hae in a gas mask in the ruins of the popular shopping district of Myeongdong. She is pleased to discover a poster for BTS’s concert film “Bring the Soul”. She takes off her gas mask and turns on the BTS hit “Spring Day” 2017 on her cell phone, puts on headphones and smiles. As the song plays, she continues walking through the ruins. Then she smiles and says, “Happy birthday, Kang Seo Hae.”
“Sisyphus: The Myth” production team said, “Spring Day, the song in the teaser has a bigger meaning than just a song that Seo Hae likes.” Kang Seo Hae is someone who lives in a future Korea that is in ruins because of a war. The sight of her walking through the ruined Myeongdong, which was once a shopping mecca full of people, gives a hint of the harsh world she lives in. She had to wear a gas mask because of the polluted air and survived with canned food. As she tries to make it day in and day out in a world that has been taken over by gangsters and warlords, she tries to find her own sources of hope.
One of those things is BTS “Spring Day” which brings back Seo Hae’s happy past and represents the times before Seoul was destroyed. Kang Seo Hae doesn’t forget to smile and remains hopeful despite her difficult life. The song is described as being a perfect fit for Seo Hae’s current situation, as it conveys the message of remembering and missing someone precious, whom one has broken up with without losing hope of seeing them again one day .
The production team said, “Spring day is very symbolic for Seo Hae. This song, which gives hope to Seo Hae, has been in the script since the planning stage and we asked BTS for permission to use it before it was included in the video. “They added,” Please look forward to see if Seo Hae, who never loses hope, will see a ‘spring day’ when the flowers will bloom again”.
It was an excellent idea for the production of “Sisyphus: The Myth”, to have included the hit song by BTS, as a way to open more and more spaces for their idols, in the environment of K-dramas, of the which the latter are no strangers, since as we mentioned recently, BTS makes a small appearance in the hit K-drama “True Beauty”. Is it time for the boys of BTS to fully integrate into acting? It is possible, and here we will be ready to tell you about it.
“Sisyphus: The Myth” premieres on February 17th.
