If when you watch “True beauty” you feel like your heart is going to burst out of your chest and you need to call a cardiologist, don’t worry: you’re not alone!”
Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy with Moon ga young as Lim Ju Gyeong, a girl who tries to combat her insecurities about her appearance through her makeup skills that make her a “goddess” at school. She eventually ends up in the middle of a tense love triangle between Lee Su Ho, a popular student with hidden emotional wounds (played by ASTRO Cha eun woo) and Han Seo Jun, an indomitable rebel with a surprisingly warm heart (played by Hwang in yeob).
With each new episode, the hit drama and its charming trio of leads have delivered countless impotent moments that make viewers’ hearts beat faster.
Here are five of the most memorable moments from “True Beauty,” where Cha Eun Woo as Lee Su Ho stole the hearts of the audience:
1. Save the day at school
In contrast to the icy demeanor he showed in the first two episodes, Lee Su Ho shocked viewers – as did Lim Ju Gyeong – by suddenly coming to their rescue at the end of Episode 2. When Lim Ju Gyeong got icing on her face and Lee Su Ho was in danger of exposing her bare face at school, unexpectedly came on stage and accompanied her into an empty bathroom while he covered her with his jacket. The gallant and thoughtful gesture showed that the seemingly detached character had a hidden caring side.
2. Lim Ju Gyeong say she is pretty even without makeup
In “True Beauty” episode 5, Lee Su Ho shyly tried to express his feelings for Lim Ju Gyeong in his own incompetent but delightful way. While feigning nonchalance, he bought Lim Ju Gyeong the strawberry juice she liked, and after hugging her, tried to play it off using the scent of his fabric softener as a hard-to-believe excuse. The moment that really made the hearts of the audience beat faster was when he boosted Lim Ju Gyeong’s confidence by telling her, “You are pretty even if you don’t wear makeup.”
3. His confession followed by a romantic first kiss
At the end of “True Beauty” episode 8, Lim Ju Gyeong became distraught after mistakenly believing Lee Su liked Ho Kang Su Jin (played by Park yoo na). After tracking her down outside, Lee Su Ho finally cleared up the misunderstanding and boldly confessed his feelings by stating, “The person I like is you.” The couple wowed the crowd by sharing their first kiss in the moonlight.
4. Resolute Kang Su Jin by declaring: “Lim Ju Gyeong is my friend”
In episode 12, Lee Su Ho Kang Su Jin made it clear that he was taboo. When she approached him to confess her feelings, Lee Su Ho quickly cut her off and told her that he was with Lim Ju Gyeong. Later in the episode, his opposition was even stronger when Kang Su Jin asked him to break up with Lim Ju Gyeong and go out with her instead. The cold, unyielding manner in which he responded to her progress showed how committed he was to his relationship with Lim Ju Gyeong.
5. His unforgettable aegyo
After everyone at school found out about Lim Ju Gyeong’s past, Lee Su Ho tried to cheer her up with the same cute aegyo she used to comfort him in the comic book store as a child. He also brought a smile to her face with the awkward but adorable video of him singing the song “Ottoke (What Should I Do)), which he filmed in hopes that she would feel better. Not only did he succeed in his mission, but the adorkable video had viewers who smiled along with it.
