On November 19, Mnet’s new audition program “CAP-TEEN” aired its first episode.
One of the participants in the show was Cho Ah Young, a former FNC Entertainment trainee. She had previously participated in Mnet’s “Produce 48”.
As an apprentice, Cho Ah Young had made a promising start to her career. At the age of 16, she released a digital album and performed several times at the opening of hip-hop festivals. She attended the art school she had dreamed of and passed her audition on her first try at a major agency. She was also selected as one of the potential members to debut within four months of joining the agency.
Why Cho Ah Young didn’t make her debut on CAP-TEEN?
On “CAP-TEEN” she announced that she had lost the chance of a debut after developing an eating disorder. She said, “I developed bulimia nervosa and gained weight and was excluded from the potential debut lineup. That was the hardest time for me. I stayed home all day with nowhere to go. I hated meeting someone. ”
She continued, “I had so much self-loathing back then. I kept thinking to myself, “Is this the best I can do?” I was very concerned about what others would think of me. “Her mother, who was on the show with her, shared,” She wasn’t like this before, but suddenly it became a habit for her to worry about what other people thought of her behavior. ”
On the show she played a cover of BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” and got emotional when the judges praised her performance.
