2020 MAMA accused of treating singers badly

2020 MAMA accused of treating singers badly compared to actors

The 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2020 MAMA) have come under fire because idols were treated behind the scenes at the ceremony.

CJ ENM held the 2020 MAMA ceremony on December 6th without an audience present. Questions about the treatment of artists at the event spread online the next day as there appeared to be a difference between what was behind the scenes for the actors who presented awards and the idols who played and received awards.

On December 8th, Dispatch released a report describing that the actors who attended the ceremony as awardees had received waiting rooms and refreshments behind the scenes. It is reported that only two idol groups were given waiting rooms and the others waited in an outdoor parking lot. These artists’ toilets are said to have been portable toilets outside, and some idols rented other accommodations nearby instead of having to sit in their cars.

A source working with an idol group stated, “Most singers have bad backs. It is very difficult for them to sit in a car for a long time. “They continued,” Some singers rented separate accommodations and waited there.”

Dispatch reports that actors ate from food provided outside of their waiting rooms while idols ate food in their cars. Another source who works with idols stated, “We have been told [by CJ] on the use of the building’s cafeteria. We decided that it would be better to eat in the car. “They added,” We found out there was catering when we saw the photos uploaded by actors. ”

A 2020 MAMA source spoke to No Cut News on Dec. 8. They explained that while it would have been good to have separate rooms for everyone, they would have to follow regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19. “We’re a music show and there’s absolutely no need to treat singers [negligently]”, They said.

The point of sale reports that the 2020 MAMA representative described that the Contents World ceremony venue in Paju is still under construction and therefore only two buildings could be used. The buildings were used for the photo wall and the ceremony itself, and the number of people that could have them in the room was also limited.

The source stated, “The artists [singers] waited separately in their vehicles and went to the building when it was their turn. They waited there in a waiting area and then showed up. The moderators [actors] I waited on the ‘I-LAND’ set before showing up. “They said it took about five minutes to get there from I-LAND by car and also said,“ Catering was provided for both of them. ”

The source went on to say that the singers and presenters were grouped so separately because the singers had pre-recorded their performances and they didn’t have to rehearse at the venue or rehearse their acceptance speeches. “On the other hand, it was different for the presenters as they hadn’t visited the venue yet and therefore had to rehearse and also familiarize themselves with the script,” the source said. “There were fewer people present at the moderators, so we were able to comply with the prevention regulations.”
