Bts shared insights into the making of their new album on comeback day!
On November 20th, BTS released their new album “BE” with the title track “Life goes on” And held a global press conference to talk about the process and more. All members were in attendance, with the exception of Suga, who is currently recovering Shoulder surgery.
Last August the group shared their uplifting single “dynamite” After her world tour was canceled due to COVID-19. With the song they reached as the first Korean artist number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart.
Regarding the three months since Dynamite was released, RM commented, “We have kept ourselves as busy as possible. This album has been in the works since ‘Dynamite’. We worked on it during the doctorates. This time it’s unique that we’ve tried to share as much of the production process as possible. He added, “We have revealed aspects of the process through video or live broadcast. These details are usually kept under a veil. Hopefully, later on, the audience can think, ‘Ah, that’s how it was done.”
“BE” is supposed to be a page from a diary. The word “to be” implies a sense of being or existence. Its open nature helps the group speak honestly about their history, thoughts, and aspirations.
Jimin from BTS was the album’s music project manager. He explained, “I became a project manager at Suga’s suggestion. It’s not a very important role, I just compiled the opinions of the members and conveyed them to our label while conveying the thoughts of the label to the members. He also stated, “While we were discussing the subject of the album, a key phrase was ‘Life goes on.’ RM talked about how life goes on no matter what and how we can keep our way of life going despite the changes around us. The rest of the members found it relatable and we decided to take it as our theme. “He added,” The word ‘being’ leaves room for interpretation. I found it appropriate for an album that has a lot of stories.”
The title track “Life Goes On” delivers a hopeful and reassuring message during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s an alternative hip hop song with an acoustic guitar sound. The sentence in the title was also a focal point of the group’s speech on the 75th UN General Assembly.
RM explained, “The song has the same roots as ‘Dynamite’. We as a group always wonder what kind of story we can tell at this point in time. ‘Dynamite’ was a song that was good for dancing away the negative vibes in the summer . “He also said,” Life goes on “has a little more weight, but offers a gentle and genuine source of comfort. It might seem obvious in some ways, but we’ve tried to interpret the harsh truth in our own way. ”
All members took part in the production and delegated a project manager for each part of the process to actively improve the concept and design of the album. They participated in the concept photos and clips, the album cover, the music video, and more.
Jungkook made the music video for “Life Goes On” and captured sincere moments in the members’ lives. I said, “The director title seems too big a position to fill. I just like filming in my daily life so it came naturally. I did my best. When I heard the song, I thought it was important to be realistic and sincere. It’s cool to think that my videos will be in our music video. It was a great opportunity. ”
V directed the visual aspects of the album. He commented, “I took on the role in hopes of showing it [our fans] ARMY cool and meaningful versions of us. The process wasn’t easy, but I was able to make it through thanks to the support of my members and fans. I’ve built in our comfortable selves. ”
Jin said, “Everyone has been spending time stopping because of COVID-19. It’s frustrating and sad, but we honestly put those emotions into the album. We hoped that many people could relate to it, be comforted, and comfort others. ”
He added: “Still, the album is not all about sad songs. There are also upbeat songs that express this mood in a unique way from BTS. “Jin continued,” It seems like the world has stopped, but it goes on. I hope we can all find little sources of happiness in our daily lives. Let’s move on and move on! ”
Last year, BTS had the great disappointment of not being able to go on a world tour. But when they brought solace to the world with their music, they reached new heights. Jin said her next goal is to get a nod from the Grammys. “It was a great honor to be # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100,” he said. “I hope our name will be revealed during the Grammy nomination announcement.”
The nominees for the ceremony will be announced on November 24th local time (November 25th KST). RM stated, “It would be a lie to say that I’m not nervous at all. Every time we were asked about our next destination, we replied that it was going to be a Grammy. We are anxiously waiting for November 25th. It’ll be great when we get nominated, but I also think to myself, “What if we’re not nominated?” I heard the nominees would be announced at dawn. I think we’ll stay up for it. ”
J-Hope commented, “Since we are a team, I hope we get a group award.” He stated that this was a big goal and dream for BTS. He added, “I think I’ll tear up if we win one.”
BTS will stage yours first appearance of “Life Goes On” at the 2020 American Music Awards, which will air November 22, local time. Jimin said, “I am very honored that our group has been nominated two categories. Please look forward to it! ”
